Developed by CETT (Compagnie Européenne de Télétransmission), CETT 80 (also know as ETC-80) enables communication between control stations and CETT-80 substations.

Physical layer operation is based on the standard mode with start bit, data bits, parity and stop bit. Its link layer is almost identical to the HDLC protocol in normal response mode.
