The protocol converter (S1), installed at one of several substations,
communicates with the RTU via
Indactic 33/41. Data dispatched from the RTU is converted to
the IEC 60870-5-104 protocol and transmitted as transport layer data via satellite
connection and
TCP/IP to the control center.
The protocol converter (Z) is connected directly to the front end processor (FEP).
Each substation is assigned a separate serial port for communication between
the protocol converter (Z) and the FEP.
