Two ABB substations (ANSI X3.28) are connected to the Siemens Spectrum
control stations (based on (Sinaut 8FW) using the IPCOMM protocol converter.
The protocol converters operate in redundant mode, at any one time only one
device is active and assumes the conversion task for both stations. If the
active device fails, the lines are switched to the other device with mechanical
change-over switches.
The service modem for connecting to the dial-up line allows remote diagnosis and
has proven highly valuable especially during the testing phase.
